MACES Creative Workshops

Dear students,

 

MACES is excited to announce a NEW opening for the Creative Workshops in September. Each workshop is 15 hours over 5 weeks (12 hours in class + 3 hours Final Project).

 

These creative workshops are open with a reduced price to maces students 130$ per workshop, and is also open to non-maces students - the cost will be 170$. All materials (computer, program, exercise etc.) are provided and the workshops will take place at maces building: 3437 Peel Street.

 

 

Photoshop Basics + Professional Photo Retouching

Two Workshops:

- Starting Saturday September 24, 2016. 10 AM - 1 PM

- Starting Monday September 26, 2016. 6 - 9 PM

 

Illustrator Basics + Logo Design and Typography

Two Workshops:

- Starting Sunday September 25, 2016. 10 AM – 1 PM

- Starting Tuesday September 27, 2016. 6 – 9 PM

 - Photoshop Basics + Professional Photo Retouching:

 

In this intensive workshop of 15 hours over five weeks (12 hours in class + 3 hours Final Project), students will learn the most important techniques of Adobe Photoshop CS6 to boost their creativity and explore the great possibilities that this program offers. There will be an introduction to the basics (the workspace, tools, menus and layers), followed by techniques and filters to bring their photos to an artistic and professional level (photo retouching). Students will be learning in theory and practice about composition, colors correction, mixing images and creating backgrounds.

 

It is a project-based workshop; students will learn through a lot of exercises during class hours, and during the last three hours, students will complete a final project: Auto Portrait.

 

 

- Illustrator Basics + Logo Design and Typography:

 

In this intensive workshop of 15 hours over 5 weeks (12 hours in class + 3 hours Final Project), students will learn the techniques and skills they need to effectively create shapes, icons and 2D designs using Adobe Illustrator CS6. They will explore the great possibilities that this program offers and create vector graphics. There will be an introduction to the basics (the workspace, tools and layers), followed by exercises to practice digital drawing and create typography based design and logos.

 

It is a project-based workshop; students will learn through a lot of exercises during class hours, and during the last three hours, students will complete a final project: Personal Logo.

 

About the instructor:

 

Dima Karout is a Montreal-based graphic and web designer and a visual artist. She holds a Master’s degree in Contemporary Art and New Media (Paris VIII University) a BFA in Visual Communication (Fine Arts University of Damascus) and a Certificate in Creative Writing (Concordia).  A lover of art, travel, teaching and learning, Dima has experience teaching university students Graphic Design, Colors and Application, Image Treatment, Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator. She has exhibited her artwork in Damascus, Leipzig, Paris and Montreal. She is currently working on her personal project: The Walls Project: www.wallsproject.com
