Gregory B. Gallagher

Born in Montreal, Gregory is the Executive-Producer, narrator and multi-instrumentalist of the documentary film Legends of Magdalen; Winner of the Royal Reel Award from the Canada International Film Festival, winner of the Rogers Documentary Film Grant Award, and winner of the Quebec Anglophone Heritage Network's StoryNet Documentary Film Challenge (thank you ELAN for posting the contest), this one-hour film presents the little known tale of the myths and legends of sunken treasure and shipwrecks surrounding the remote Magdalen Islands, and the English-speaking community of Old Harry, where three generations of the Clark family have recorded over 700 sunken ships. Gregory is partnered with Montreal-based Parafilms Director/Editor, Sharif Mirshak and Director of Photography & Art Director, Noe Sardet. CBC has broadcast the film numerous times, as well as The Documentary Channel, and Air Canada, Delta Airlines and Air Transat have carried the film on all their flights worldwide. Gregory is the creative force behind the definitive jazz documentary series Universal Jazz; fifteen one-hour shows chronicling the evolution of North America's only truly original art form. During the writing, researching, editing and narrating of this series for CBC's popular radio series IDEAS, Gregory worked one-on-one with Quincy Jones, Lena Horne, Dizzy Gillespie, Sarah Vaughan, Duke Ellington, Max Roach, Oscar Peterson, Charles Mingus, McCoy Tyner, and many more icons of the idiom. Gregory is currently developing and producing a transmedia content series for children with the legendary Jean-Michel Cousteau based on his award-winning Ambassadors of the Environment curriculum. To be produced by one of Quebec's most active production houses, Groupe PVP (Oceana, Artisans of Change & Maison du Pecheur), the project will commence with 13 half-hour TV shows, an interactive website, and a mobile game App. Gregory is one of the original Canadian writers of the Sesame Street Television Show, and a music performer on the legendary Mr. Dress-Up Tv Show. Gregory is the author/photographer of the bestselling Eyewitness Top 10 Travel Montreal and Quebec City (Penguin DK imprint 2004-2013 in the 6th Printing), and writes for a stellar client list led by National Geographic Society, Smithsonian Magazine, Jane Goodall Institute, Virgin Airlines, The Globe and Mail Dreamscapes Magazine, Ulysse Magazine (Paris), Asian Sources (Hong Kong), Canadian Geographic Magazine, and is the 2011 winner of the Story of the Year Award from the Caribbean Tourism Organization. Commissioned to write for an increasing number of corporate clients, Gregory writes large-format coffee-table marketing books for clients such as Grenadines Estate Villas (in partnership with Raffles Hotel and Resorts, Trump International Golf Club, American Airlines, and Moorings), and Koolivoo from Australia. A resident of California for many years, Gregory worked as a contract saxophonist and flute player with many popular international acts on tour. Gregory also worked as a feature film script reader with one of Hollywood's oldest firms, The William Carroll Agency in Burbank. Gregory's newest publishing is the 2017 Michelin Green Guide Canada, he is the sole writer and photographer of the Michelin MustSee Montreal Travel Guide, plus the Michelin Green Guide Quebec.. A member of the Society of American Travel Writers (SATW), plus an Olympus America-sponsored photographer, Gregory lives in the Old Village of Pointe-Claire with his wife Linda Hart, a portrait artist.
